My First Year of Pilot
I started doing Pilot program at U-32 after being dissatisfied with the options remote learners were provided at the start of the school year, and searching for something self-directed that would provide me with some more depth. I focused my study on economics with an emphasis on experimentation and simulation, as well as working on projects in literature, history, and math.
First year Pilot projects can be emotionally rough - I was really unsure of myself when I began, but in retrospect, I did a lot of valuable work that year. For reflections on the process as it was happening, check out my Semester 1 Narrative here and my Semester 2 Narrative here.

Short on time?
Here are the highlights!
Semester 1:
Semester 1:
- Economics: Skim through the scientific paper I wrote on my stock strategies experiment.
- History: Here are my notes on some research into the Great Depression, which ties into my literature project and provides a good example of the note-taking style I use for all my information gathering.
- Literature: Take a look at one of my reflections I wrote for my reading of The Grapes of Wrath (without too many spoilers.)
- Math: An example of some notes on polynomial factorization.
- Economics: Here are some cool notes on game theory, and here's a paper I wrote about a modification on a simulation of game theory strategies.
- Literature: Check out the daily reflections I wrote on an amazing book about anthropology and economics, Debt: The First 5,000 Years, and read the poetry I wrote about privacy.
- Math: Here are some notes on logarithms. See how my notetaking process may have changed!
